When you are looking to invest in property, you need to do your research. There are a lot of data points that you need to consider before committing to a property. Often you will have the assistance of a investment advisor, but more often than not, you have to start somewhere and do research yourself, but where do you find the information?

Well here are ample Australian based options for you to look at and a lot of them are free! We are not endorsing their information or services, but providing options for you to look at.


Demographics and Market Trends
To determine what is happening in an area you need to know who is living there and what is likely to happen in the future. They can also assist in helping you decide on when to buy in an area.
Property Info
Before jumping into a property, you need to be able to see what the vacancy rates are for the area and median rents. 
Suburbs and Street Data
To find out what comparable properties are selling for you need historical data -  usually the past 12 months. Some suburb historical data goes back 5 years, while some street information can go back 10-15 years - which is valuable information to show the change in an area over time.
You may not get ALL the information on all suburbs, postcodes and streets, but hopefully what you are looking for is contained in some of these. 
Auctions
You will be able to track properties and how they do at auction, this can be a way of finding properties that have been passed in, and may mean vendors are more motivated to negotiate.
Current Pricing and Sale History
This information is useful when you are trying to determine a figure for a particular property and the potential for growth on a property. These sites will help estimate what a property is currently worth.
